Scientific view of the health effects of electromagnetic radiation from electronic products

Our devices have truly become with us every minute of the day. As soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you may be woken up by your phone's alarm, and then throughout the day from the microwave oven, hood, washing machine, hairdryer, refrigerator for home use, to the mobile phone, computer, iPad for communication and work: until you go to bed in the evening. you may also be wearing an electronic watch to record your sleep. Even if you don't use them for brief periods, they are still on standby and not far away from you.

After spending so much time with electronics every day? could they be causing you any health problems? It's possible. In this presentation we will talk about the possible hazards of all these electrical appliances around you as well as the measures to mitigate these risks.

These possible hazards can be divided into three main categories:

The first category: direct hazards: is the effect of electromagnetic radiation from the electronics themselves on your body. The second major category: indirect hazards: is the light and sound of electronic products and the damage to your eyes and ears.

The third category is physical harm caused by device usage.

Focusing on the first major category, the electromagnetic radiation. This is the topic that generates we have the most worries and the most controversy.

To be honest, the concern is not unreasonable. Electromagnetic radiation is essentially the same as nuclear radiation from atomic bombs and radioactive radiation from X-rays and CT scanners, with different wavelengths of energy. Therefore we have researched all aspects of the effects of electronic radiation from household appliances especially mobile phones and iPads which are used every day.

The higher the frequency of electromagnetic radiation, the stronger the radiation; such as microwave ovens, mobile phones receiving calls and electronic products connected to the Internet, these devices are indeed much higher than other electrical appliances with a frequency of about 400-2000MHz.

Do they have health effects? Before I present the conclusion, let me set the stage by saying that none of these studies are of particularly high quality. For one thing, we live in an environment where there is so much of this very weak electromagnetic radiation that there is no way to tell which source specifically affects us. Secondly even today smartphones have only been around for a short time and can't be studied for very long. So the conclusions I'm going to draw are just a general trend based on the evidence from animal, human, and in vitro experiments that are available now for your reference.

Regarding the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risks evidence from such studies is still relatively strong because medical science has long studied the electromagnetic radiation from pacemakers which are much closer to the heart than mobile phones and the result is that no evidence of damage to the heart has been found.

Regarding the tumor risk although the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) an affiliate of the WHO has suggested in 2013 that there is a cancer risk from EMFs we have combined the results of all the studies on childhood leukemia and EMFs and found that the data show no significant correlation.

Regarding headaches and tinnitus which is the most common complaint after using a mobile phone the answer is still that no clear evidence has been seen. A large-scale study analyzed call records from Swedish and Finnish telecom operators and found that weekly headache frequency, hearing damage, and tinnitus were all unrelated to the time spent on the phone.

As for the most anecdotal claims reproductive effects. We've also only seen in vitro that EMR decreases the viability of sperm in men but has a lesser effect on female fertility without seeing any in vivo evidence of this.

In short, the evidence on the dangers of electromagnetic radiation is lacking and there are many conflicting results therefore we don't need to get bogged down in this category of harm.

If you are concerned, there you can do some basic protection. How? It's simple. The World Health Organization’s study concluded that the strength of the magnetic field around various electronic devices decreases rapidly with distance. As long as maintaining 30cm distance, the radiation value is already far below 50Hz and the harm to the human body can be said to be minimal.

As long as maintaining 30cm distance suffices when receiving phone calls using headphones, usually keep them a little farther an arm's length distance is enough. Expectant mothers are also protected in the same way and there is no need to buy specialized maternity EMF garments. Because any part of a person's body that is exposed to radiation will affect the fetus and provides no meaningful protection to protect only the stomach.
