In life, we sometimes inevitably have picky eating habits and do not develop the habit of taking vitamin supplements, we likely have deficiencies, but we do not seem to have heard anyone say, "not supplementing vitamins causes discomfort", it's hard for us to identify the lack of vitamins of the specific symptoms. nor do we observe immediate severe health impacts. So why do we need to talk about optimal vitamin intake, and how important are vitamins?
Scientists have also done extensive research on the subject, with a 2018 article published by the National Academy of Sciences giving seminal findings.
The study classifies the proteins in your body into two categories, one called "survival proteins", which are important for survival and reproduction, and the other called "longevity proteins", which play a key role in our long-term health, correcting DNA replication and repairing various proteins in the body. Obviously, "survival proteins" address immediate needs, while "longevity proteins" invest in future health.
So how does the body decide which protein to synthesize? Research has found that when vitamins are deficient, the body chooses to prioritize essential functions, that is, to use vitamins to synthesize ‘survival proteins’ that are more important for early development survival, and cell reproduction, and at the same time reduce activity of proteins/enzymes crucial for long-term health, leading to higher rates of age-related diseases.
As you can see, a large portion of the vitamins responsible for the production of survival proteins and longevity proteins compete for shared resources. In other words, there is only one choice between preserving the present or preserving longevity when vitamins are not available in sufficient quantities: Only when there are optimal vitamin levels will the body actively synthesize longevity proteins to build reserves for long-term health.
Well, you can ask yourself a question right now: guess whether the vitamins in your body are busy synthesizing survival proteins or longevity proteins right now.
